A large proportion of our companies' activity includes on site and workshop refurbishment,

require varying levels of knowledge. We can now provide your engineers with the required level
of training associated with the tasks and duties he or she will be expected to fulfill when
operating, testing or carrying out routine maintenance to all types of electrical switchgear.
Our design team is constantly designing new equipment which incorporates the latest Air Circuit
Breaker Technology to replace either worn out or dangerous circuit breakers, in particular
the range of "Manually Dependent" Oil Circuit Breakers manufactured before 1970 and still
in use in vast numbers within the country's manufacturing industry. We have achieved,
in the majority of cases, provision of a self-contained cubicle which replaces just the
circuit breaker itself and mounted on existing framework and utilises the original power
connections without the need for any alterations to the fixed portion of the switchboard.
The obvious advantages to this way of updating your switchgear are: no need for lengthy
shutdown periods (in some cases the conversion can be done without any shutdown of circuits
other than the ones being changed); can be done over a period of time to spread the initial
costs; no need to disturb power cables, etc.
Thermal imaging has been one of the most innovative preventative maintenance techniques
to have established itself in the electrical and switchgear manufacturers industry in recent
years. The technique includes measurement of actual temperatures of apparatus during normal
operating conditions and our experience is used to evaluate whether the equipment is operating
within its temperature range or whether an underlying fault is present which could result in eventual breakdown
and the risk of fire. For installations on high voltage, R&B Switchgear Manufacturers UK can manufacture
and supply a viewing window which when fitted to strategic positions on a switchboard gives
camera access to cable joints and bus bar connections not possible without the removal of panels
and doors etc.
R & B Switchgear Manufacturers UK design and manufacture distribution switchboards for use in both the
marine and industrial environment, for use on voltages up to 11000V A. C. These can be
tailor-made to compliment existing installations or to be supplied as per our standard designs,
